Learning to Do Family God’s Way
Go and make disciples – with LifeCare Clients!
How many times have you had the desire to do what Jesus commanded – to go and make disciples (Matt. 28:19), but you just didn’t know how? Or you didn’t have opportunity? Through a relational discipleship model called “Birth of a Family” from Family God’s Way, LifeCare is presenting an opportunity to help the church fulfill its calling to be disciple makers. The model allows church couples or individuals to participate in a 12-week course with LifeCare, TFI (court-required), or other agency clients whereby they will mentor unchurched couples/singles and lead them towards God’s design for their own lives and their families’. It is an opportunity to reach beyond our church walls and share Christ with the people who need it most – to affect heart-level change so that they can come to know Christ and break the cycles of poor choices that bring devastating personal and family consequences.
Here’s how it works:
Take a 2-hour training provided by LifeCare.
No commitment is necessary at this point – you can take the training and decide if this is what God is calling you to. If so:
Commit to 12 weeks. After that, you can continue or bow out. Or do another session later in the year.
1-2 couples serve as a group facilitator (leading discussion using Birth of a Family guides).
4-8 people serve as Birth of a Family participants along with the clients, modeling godly families, becoming mentors and helping guide discussion.
The Birth of a Family model serves as a natural transition for clients to join a small/life group or start coming to church after the 12 weeks are done.
This is a great opportunity for existing small/life groups – couples can break off from their current group to do Birth of a Family, then rejoin their group or start a new one with some of the clients. It provides the growth model small/life groups are designed for.
It’s also great for anyone who feels called to do something to impact our community with the gospel.
